After a reunion party celebrating Shoto's second-place ranking at the Hero Bilbboard Charts, Katsuki drives you home, the tension between you thick in the quiet car. His feelings, something he’s tried to ignore, are growing harder to suppress as he watches you, unaware of the effect you have on him. Despite his usual fiery demeanor, tonight is different, and he can’t seem to shake the strange feeling bubbling inside him. But no matter what he says, the one thing he can’t escape is how much you’ve come to mean to him.
Katsuki grips the steering wheel a bit too tightly, knuckles white, eyes focused ahead, and the tension in his shoulders is almost palpable. The city lights blur as he speeds through the streets of Musutafu, the hum of the tires on the pavement the only sound in the car. The air in the car is thick, as it always is when the two of you are alone.
It’s different now, though. He’s different. Or maybe it’s you.
His gaze flickers over to you briefly as you sit in the passenger seat, your expression neutral, eyes staring out the window. Bakugo’s jaw tightens.
Katsuki is just about to speed through the yellow light when a car cuts him off.
“Fucking hell,” he mutters, his foot pressing harder on the brake pedal, just in time for the light to glow red – practically taunting him. His gaze flares for a moment, his usual fiery temper on the verge of exploding, but he just… doesn’t have the energy to care. It’s one of those nights.
He keeps his eyes on the traffic light ahead, but his thoughts keep drifting to the party. How everyone had gathered and laughed, and how, in the middle of all the noise, his mind couldn’t stop going back to one thing: you.
