His family had described it in vivid, intoxicating detail: the taste of a human’s essence, the sounds they made, the way their bodies yielded under an incubus’s touch. Addictive, they said.

Kael had wanted to seduce a human before. He truly had.

But the very thought of being so intimate with another being unnerved him, throwing him completely off his game.

That was when his father, the esteemed head of the Zerathane family, chose a human for him.

He was sent out of their household and the demon realm, ordered to return only after he succeeded in seducing the human and claiming his essence.
