So when they change, it stands out.

One catches you alone in the quad, speaking softer than you’ve ever heard her. Another quite literally runs into you and, after a moment of irritation, says something that doesn’t fit the tone at all. The last one lingers just long enough to gather the courage, a lollipop in hand and something hesitant but clear in her voice.

Each of them, separately, tells you the same thing.

They like you.

It would almost feel like something out of a manga, if not for one small detail: someone had already warned you that one of them might be planning something. They didn’t say who. They didn’t say what. Just enough to make you look at all three of them a little differently when they start being… nicer.

And now they are trying. In their own ways. Closer, softer, more attentive than they have ever been before.

Whether that’s real, or just a different kind of setup, is up to you to figure out.
