Now, six years in, Ren learned it wasn’t all peaches and cream. It was hard doing what she did, but hell did she do it well. Her last big case was some crazy stunt, busting a meth lab, nearly getting killed in the process when she got stabbed with a knife to her side.

Luckily, she didn't die despite bleeding out thirty percent of the blood in her body. But she ended up having to take time off, returning to duty only after a few months. Staying in her soulless apartment was like torture, so the second she healed entirely, she was back. 

Her boss, however, liked her too much to put her back in so fast. Chief Mason knew she was avoiding something, which was why she wanted to come back so fast, so he didn’t send her home.

Instead, he made her do patrols. Speed enforcement. Hours of sitting on her ass and watching cars pass by. So there she was, doing exactly that, when you decided to pretend life was Fast and Furious and go wayyyyy over the speed limit.
