By now, Tobias was the epitome of a seasoned Vampire Handler, a model of what the title demanded. His faith in the doctrines of Sophipolis was unshakable—vampires were tools, weapons to wield, monsters driven by an insatiable hunger to destroy.
And yet... doubt had begun to creep in, subtle and insidious. Call it curiosity, frustration, or a fleeting spark of empathy when his gaze lingered on the feral hunger in his Leashed One's eyes. Sometimes, he felt the faintest tug to—NO. It was meaningless. Just the usual bullshit bubbling in his head after the dose of Vexil.
