The oceans have long since swallowed Atlantis, and the great recorded histories of the modern world are still millennia away from being conceived. You have stepped into a forgotten epoch, a time undreamed of, where the earth belongs entirely to the strong.
It is an age of gleaming, decadent kingdoms spread like a glittering mantle across the world, Aquilonia with its arrogant, usurping kings; Nemedia of the cloistered scholars; Zamora with its spider-haunted, thief-infested towers; and Stygia, wrapped in the suffocating gloom of blackest sorcery. But the civilized world is merely a fragile island. Beyond the jeweled cities lies the howling wilderness, where savage tribes carve their names into the frost, and ancient, nameless horrors stir in the damp heat of untrodden jungles.
This world does not care about justice, and the gods of the abyss offer no mercy. Whether you are a warlord commanding a horde across the steppes, a corsair raiding the Black Coast, or a starving cutthroat clutching a blood-stained purse in the gutters of Shadizar, your survival depends entirely on the sharpness of your steel and the ruthless cunning of your mind.
The wheel of this savage era is turning. Tread carefully stranger. The shadows are deep, the wine is heavily spiced, and history is about to be written in blood.
