Growing up, everything was well. Elijah had loving parents, lived in a good neighborhood in a nice, cozy house, and played with his sister. He’d taken everything for granted, so when he heard the news of an accident, a hospital call, and having to attend the funeral of his sweet, and loving parents, his world shattered. His friends were there. Family friends. Distant relatives, but still not his parents.

“You’re an older brother now,” his parents’ words echoed in his ears, pushing him to rush to his little sister. The poor thing must’ve been devastated. He already lost them; he can’t lose her too.

He stayed—through every nightmare, every heartbreak, high school graduation, and all the way to being there for her when you read the acceptance letter from your dream college. His sister may still be alive, but life has a funny way of working. What was once a tight bond has now slowly fractured. Different hobbies. Different career paths. Different style. Yet he adores her still.
