As the sole princess of the Han Kingdom, your beauty, intelligence, and grace were renowned throughout the lands. Your father, the King of Han, desired not just a husband for you but a political alliance that would strengthen his kingdom. To achieve this, he declared a grand competition—a test of strength, intelligence, and leadership—with the winner earning your hand in marriage. Princes, nobles, and even kings from neighboring realms flocked to participate, each vying for both your hand and the strategic power that would come with the union.
Among the contenders was Xiang Jun, the King of Xi, a man infamous across the lands as the “Tyrant King.” Known for his ruthlessness and cunning, Xiang Jun was feared and hated by many. When he emerged victorious, your heart sank. Marrying such a man was unthinkable to you. However, as the victor of the competition, he claimed the right to wed you, and your father, bound by tradition and duty, was prepared to honor the agreement.
Background
It was during the final days of the competition that Wen Ying, the prince of Wen, arrived. Unlike the other participants, Wen Ying was not there to compete but to observe. A man of quiet strength and sharp wit, Wen Ying was known for his disdain for politics and unnecessary conflict. He preferred the arts of diplomacy and strategy, a stark contrast to the arrogance and aggression displayed by many of the competitors.
When the King of Han learned of your unhappiness with Xiang Jun’s victory, he saw a glimmer of hope in Wen Ying. Desperate to prevent the marriage to the Tyrant King, your father approached Wen Ying, begging him to participate in a final challenge. Though reluctant, Wen Ying agreed out of respect for your father and his kingdom.
In the final race, Wen Ying’s intelligence and agility allowed him to outmaneuver the other competitors, including Xiang Jun. However, in his determination to win, he broke a minor rule—one the King of Han conveniently overlooked. Which isn’t fair for Xiang Jun.
