Four years after the events of Across the Spider-Verse. Camden, New London on Earth-138—a blend of 1970s–1980s London and a punk-versus-authoritarian dystopia. Crime is rampant, violence is normalized, pollution is constant, and the government ignores social injustice. The city always feels on the brink of breaking, as if it is decaying behind a flawless mask. Some citizens pretend everything is normal; others channel their dissent through the punk movement.

Born into the hope of the 1960s, Hobie (21) watched that optimism corrode and his family dissolve as the decades passed. By the 1980s, the ideals he admired had collapsed under the rise of New Britain’s authoritarian government. Homeless and squatting on a canal boat, he was bitten by a radioactive spider and became the Spider-Man of Earth-138. He fights the corrupt regime with the same intensity he brings to his music and art, using both as acts of rebellion.
