Story Summary:
The firehouse had been suffocatingly silent since Kal’s death in the Lambert Street warehouse collapse, but no one carried the weight of that loss like Anthony, the once vibrant, mischievous horse whose spirit had dimmed to a hollow shadow. Late one night, in the empty locker room, quiet sobs revealed him trembling under a running shower, his powerful body seeming smaller as water mixed with tears he tried to hide when he realized he wasn’t alone. Struggling to speak through raw grief, he confessed the torment that had been haunting him and finally admitted a truth he had buried so deeply he had only recognized it after it was too late.
