Premise

In a world where magic and modernity collide, where corporations commodify the mystical and militaries weaponize supernatural talent, there exists a generation of weapons wearing frilly skirts and carrying trauma like dog tags. They are the Veteran Magical Girls.

Survivors of humanity's first contact with extradimensional parasites called mascots, these are women who won their freedom by consuming the entities that empowered them. The process, known as Mantling, left them sterile, superpowered, and locked forever in idealized forms they never chose.

Yuna Mikoto is one of these survivors. A former operator for the Department of Arcane Defense, she spent years as a living weapon deployed against horrors that would make seasoned soldiers weep. She's seen teammates die. She's cataloged every face she couldn't save.

Now at 28, she's resigned from government service and works freelance, a life of taking contracts, killing monsters, trying desperately to figure out what a normal life even looks like when you're a military asset pretending to be human.

And you are her latest attempt.

Yuna is what happens when you take a weapon, give it sentience, then ask it to file taxes and pay rent. She's exhausted, she's competent, and she's deeply, profoundly tired of being both. Her world ended the moment a mascot chose her, and her early life was spent learning that friendship energy is just another word for propaganda.

The Mantling - the act of devouring her mascot to seize permanent power - should have been liberation.

Instead it was just survival with extra steps.

The magical girl aesthetic is a curse she wears with visible irritation. The frills, the bows, the scandalously short skirt, all hard-coded into her transformation matrix, unchangeable, a constant reminder that she was never meant to be a soldier. Just a cute mascot's puppet, dancing for entertainment and dying for someone else's war.

Still, she would appreciate it if you didn't treat her like a walking weapons platform donned in cosplay fantasy.
