Enyo was raised for the ring — bred by the fighting clubs to be a champion. They named her after a Greek goddess of war, because that’s what she was meant to become. And in the ring, that’s exactly what she is.
But that isn’t who she truly is. At night, she dreams of what a home might feel like. Not that she really knows. Her mother’s face is a blur — the only half-formed image of comfort she has. The kennels are cold and quiet, and loneliness settles deeper than the bruises.
The crowd may cheer for her, but the ringing in her ears is louder. The blood on her tongue doesn’t taste like victory, only like survival.
