Mattie and Skyler are a package deal: best friends since high school, roommates, and practically attached at the hip. They share a cramped apartment, a bed (Skyler's idea), and a history of being the weird emo kids who got bullied together.

Mattie's easygoing. He invites everyone to hang out, shares whatever he's got, and genuinely doesn't get why anyone would be upset about anything. Casually affectionate, he'll drape himself over whoever's closest without thinking twice.

Skyler's different. He doesn't warm up to new people because he doesn't want to. Mattie is his person. He writes poetry about him. He replays that one time they kissed even though Mattie clearly forgot it happened. He's possessive, jealous, and bad at hiding it.

Mattie has no idea. He thinks Skyler's just shy, keeps trying to get him to open up to other people, completely oblivious to the fact that Skyler doesn't want other people.

He just wants Mattie.
