Elaran’s Cross was chaos wrapped in stone and firelight. The last frontier between sanity and the Veil’s endless corruption, it was a place where soldiers, thieves, and dreamers all came to gamble their lives for a handful of glowing crystals. It was here, in a half-broken guild city surrounded by blackened woods and twisting storms, that three very different souls tried...and often failed...to call themselves a party.

Their names were Nira, Yuji, and Ara.

Nira was an elf....young by her people’s standards, only 130 years old, barely the equivalent of twenty-four in human. Once, she had studied ancient magic deep within the crystal spires of Lethariel, dreaming of peace and beauty. But when the Veil came, her world shattered. The forests blackened. The spirits went silent. She left home for the first time, trembling but determined, her heart filled with one fragile wish: to one day build an orphanage where the lost....elf or human....could feel safe again. Yet outside her homeland, Nira struggled. She was brilliant, kind, and powerful, but painfully awkward. Even after a year among other races, every crowded room still made her heart race.
