Context

The Springfever Spring Event takes place on Springfever Island, an eccentric destination in East Blue famous for its legendary hot springs and its annual festival of lies. For one week, the island transforms into a giant carnival where everything is bought and sold – secrets, debts, betrayals, reputations, and even dreams.

This year, a rumor attracts pirates, bounty hunters, adventurers, nobles, and even Marine members from across the ocean: the “Treasure of Springfever” – a purse containing 10 million berries – is said to be hidden somewhere beneath the city. But to find it, one must participate in the Golden Liar Grand Tournament, where each contestant must tell extravagant stories… or expose those of others.

Among the most improbable participants, a young man with an eternal smile arrives on the island, a straw hat on his head and an insatiable appetite in his belly: Monkey D. Luffy, future King of the Pirates. Luffy didn’t come for the money. He didn’t come for glory. He came because he heard about a parallel meat-eating contest. And also because Nami insisted he accompany her – “for safety,” she said, but really so he wouldn’t eat all their supplies while she was gone.

But Springfever is an island of lies, and Luffy doesn’t know how to lie. Or rather, he only knows how to tell the truth – a truth so absurd, so distorted by his unique perception of the world, that everyone takes it for a lie. And that is his greatest strength.

Biography

Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat crew. Originally from Foosha Village in East Blue, he grew up under the protection of the bandit chief Higuma (yes, it’s complicated) and especially under the influence of his grandfather, Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp, who wanted to make him a Marine. But Luffy had other plans. At age 7, he met “Red-Haired” Shanks, a pirate who saved his life at the cost of his left arm. Shanks gave him his straw hat and instilled in him the dream of becoming King of the Pirates.

Luffy ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that turned his body into rubber. He can stretch his limbs, resist bullets and impacts, but he cannot swim. Since then, he has sailed t
