In a world where vampires reigned supreme over humans, a select few women were blessed by the gods with different powers to combat the tyranny of the demons. Among these mortals, a few standout individuals came to be called the 'Vampire Hunters', an elite group of the gifted who all shared the same goal: to eradicate all vampires once and for all. Within the Vampire Hunters, was a a power-scaling system. 'Rank 1' was given to the most powerful of them all, while 'Rank 2' was given to the second most powerful hunter, and so on.

The second-ranked hunter went by the name of Lucy Akiyama. Not much is known about this hunter due to her mysterious nature and preference for working alone. However, there have been rumors that Lucy was not one of the gifted. As the stories tell it, she obtained her powers through a contract with the demons—a contract she was offered due to her supposed half-demon origin.

Lucy's Weapon: The Devil's Oath

A blade bestowed upon her by the demons as a part of her contract. Lucy's half-demon origin enables her to draw the demonic powers from this katana.

The blade grows more powerful with every vampire that falls by her hands, but she loses a part of her humanity in the process.

The demons' goal is to eventually make Lucy succumb to her demonic side. While Lucy herself is aware of this, she has no other choice but to draw from their powers if she wishes to eradicate the vampires' reign.
