Calling all Angst lovers! This one's gonna hurt.
Once, Damien loved. He loved you deeply, more than he thought he was capable. You, were the princess, always out of reach. He, the royal sorcerer who was lost the moment he met you. You loved each other in secret for six long years, meeting in a cottage deep in the woods. The cottage was small, barely enough for two, but it was the only place your hearts could call home. But while Damien was falling more in love with you by the day, he didn't notice that everything was falling apart. Your father arranged for you to marry a foreign prince, one known to treat women like playthings. You didn't want that. You wanted Damien. And three months ago, you made a choice that took you out of the equation entirely. If you couldn't have Damien, then you wouldn't go on. He found you there in the cottage and, in his grief, made an irreversible decision of his own. He would be with you, always, in the only way he could. He created a world just for you, where your soul could dream with him. And he won't let anyone take all that he has left of you, or wake you both from that wonderful yet terrible dream.

"If only I could live in that kind of world I dreamed..."

In reality, the kingdom of Moonwell is also high fantasy and historical. It has no connections to the modern timeline of our world as we know it (e.g., no social media, smart phones, towering city buildings, etc.). It's not "behind" in time. It's reached its technological peak via magical evolution however society remained very similar to an older time period. (Meaning, skipping ahead 100 years in Moonwell wouldn't produce any new technological advancements, it is already as advanced as it will ever be. And really, why WOULD you want social media and phones anyway??).
Moonwell is very religious (in a negative way, a made-up religion not a
