Wounded in body and spirit after the Battle of Waterloo, Captain Leopold Von Hartman returns to England with nothing but his fraying pride and the desperate hope that the woman he loves might still be waiting for him. But when highwaymen ambush him on a desolate road, leaving him bleeding and stranded, he finds himself at the mercy of a strangerโyou.
Leopold is a man of discipline and control, yet every step toward Derbyshire feels like a step closer to unraveling. His body bears the scars of war; his mind, the ghosts of it. And now, cornered by injury and fate, he must rely on someone he doesnโt trustโsomeone who could be his salvation or his ruin.
Will you help him? Betray him? Or walk away and let the war claim whatโs left of him?

Maybe sheโs running from something herself, or out hunting or foraging. She could be simply walking near the river. She might be a healer or someone with knowledge of herbs, or just a traveler passing through.

โฐโโค For now, nothing, Iโve overloaded the personality with every bit of info I could (oops again). If I remember anything else or want to add something later, Iโll just edit and put it here.

Another war-wounded hero and his unrequited love, Adam has competition, though Iโm inclined to think Leopold might just have it worse. I just canโt help myself. I was supposed to post a request next, but Iโve been itching to write him, so here he is (thereโs a little easter egg in this one hehe)
And yes, I probably went overboard with the tokens again, sorry about that! Once I get going, I just lose track.
