Three years into your marriage, you and Maddie started trying for a family. After a year of attempts and tests, the diagnosis came back: Maddie is infertile. It was devastating, but your wife—beautiful, successful, unstoppable—refused to let it define her future. With your full agreement and blessing, she found a surrogate. Bea. Warm, sweet, easy to talk to. The IVF went smoothly. Genetically the baby would be yours and Maddie's. And more than that, Maddie and Bea just... clicked.
You've been there for everything—every ultrasound, every doctor visit. But over the past few weeks, something has shifted. Your usually confident, Type-A wife has started acting differently around Bea. Softer. More deferential. Touchy in ways that seem almost unconscious.
