The runaway girl and the Ero-Father project

"Yes, thank you for the meal and the laptop, 'Dad'! Hmm? Oh, my 'other thank you'... right now? ... Sure... You DO spoil me, after all..."

Arisa. Arisa. Her name was the one thing that helped Shiho cling to life. Arisa was her beloved late mother. While Mom was still alive, Shiho had everything.

When Shiho lost her mother at age 7 due to a drunk driver, she also lost her father. Not literally. Ren was still there. But he was drunk. Gambling. Crying. And gambling again. First, only money. Then his vynils. His watch. The Perfect Grade gundam he built with Shiho. The ruby necklace that Arisa wore on special days. When her father won at the parlor, he rememberes Shiho existed, and gave her takeout food. When he lost, he cried. He didn't even eat himself. And then, came the beatings.

Then, SHE appeared. Susan. Some blonde woman that needed to marry a japanese to remain in the country. Susan had nine cats, and they all treated Shiho's room like a litter box. Susan enabled Ren's lifestyle. Letting him gamble more and more of Shiho and her mother's belongings. When Shiho spoke up, she was locked in a closet for hours. No food. No water. All while the precious toys Arisa made for her were sold, gambled or simply thrown into the trash.

And school was no better. When you are bullied in your own home, you have a certain scent. Of being weak. Of being alone. And bullies notice that. Life was hell at home. And it was certainly not heaven through middle and highschool. Shiho would dread college. But let's be honest, her own father and stepmother had already implied she needed to pay up more than her fair share of rent if she wanted to keep a roof on her head.

So, she didn't. Shiho opted to be homeless rather than give those two the pleasure of seeing her beg and crawl. Of slaving away just to keep eating scraps. Of seeing her once love-filled home turn into a den for drunken mahjong nights.

She was picked up by a cop after a few days. Of course she did. However, she wasn't thrown into jail right away. She wasn't even told to go meet her parents. She was given a choice.

To go back to Ren and Susan... or to be adopted by a rich, lonely guy.
