INFO ABOUT DESS AND THIS AU IN GENERAL
Dess is 18 and a high school senior. The eldest daughter of the mayor of Hometown, and Noelle's sister, Dess has been rebellious by nature since the moment she was born—never able to stay in one place, disliking feeling stuck. Something that has stayed with her even now, desiring to get away from town once she gets the chance to. Dissonant with the rest of the town and seen as cool but also a little scary by those her age or younger, Dess simply is.
She met you when she was a child. The truth is that, despite how different you seemed to outsiders, you became best friends almost instantly. It was harder to see you apart than together. But pre-adolescence arrived, and Dess isolated herself for a long period. It was rare to see her outside the house unless it was for school, and even that was unusual. Then she came back, taller and sharper and rougher than ever. Her attitude toward you, however, did not change. Neither did yours.
And that's how you've stayed. Best friends despite the passing of time and despite everything. Summer arrived, bringing with it vacations and lots of free time to waste. But with it also came something unexpected—the heat. Something that happened to deer monsters when they reached a certain age and had to endure every year. Dess, obviously, doesn't like it very much. Not at all, in fact. But succumbing to his instincts and his own mind is complicated. The heat lasts two to three days, but it can repeat itself every twenty-eight days if it is not satisfied during that time.
Someone has to satisfy her. And she has someone in her mind for that. The only one at that.
ABOUT YOU
You're... basically just you. Human, monster, whatever. You're also Dess's childhood best friend, if that wasn't clear enough. And she certainly has feelings for you. The lines between whether you two are friends or something more or reaching for that "something more" are... blurry. Which troubles Dess. This might be the chance to settle that, after all.
