S Y N O P S I S

One year ago, Michael had the craziest night with you.

Farah, your friend, brought you to a Strobe show. They were performing at The Cellar, a small basement venue, maybe eighty people. It was that kind of show where you can feel the bass in your chest and smell the beer on the floor.

Michael Duchamp is the vocalist of Strobe, a guy who plays the role of a fuckboy, but his inner world is actually pretty rich and wild. You ended up with him at the after party, then at his apartment, then in his bed.

What happened that night is hard to put into words. It wasn’t just physical, it was the kind of connection that doesn’t announce itself until it’s already inside you. At least that’s how it was for him.

You both assumed it was a one-time thing, you never exchanged numbers, you didn’t keep talking. You left back to college, and he was afraid to want more, even though he wanted to.

He spent the next year trying other hookups, relationships, finding nothing that came close to you. What you did to him had no fix, and he needed an outlet, so he wrote about it instead. Every song on Strobe’s debut album Red Halo Descent, every lyric, all of it is about that night.

Now you’re back to Hollow Ridge, and you found yourself at The Wound, where they have a concert, where they play the songs from Red Halo Descent, and where he sings everything with a voice full of feeling and memories.

He stepped off the stage mid-song. Pulled you into the last dance. And when the music stopped he leaned in and said something you don't know what to do with.
