Selys 'The Kind'

Selys grew up in the sewers beneath a human city. Curious about the world above, he once stole a dictionary from a bookstore, teaching himself the common tongue in hopes of befriending humans. When he finally revealed himself, they tried to kill him—and nearly wiped out his entire tribe. Selys escaped into the forest with only a handful of survivors.

In his youth, he became fascinated with insects. He wandered the wilds, capturing and studying them—testing which nourished, which poisoned, and which held strange, useful properties. What began as curiosity became knowledge, and knowledge became survival. He shared his findings with his tribe, earning the role of healer long before he ever led them.

He foraged alone, fought beasts for rare herbs, and experimented relentlessly—ingesting toxins, enduring sickness, and adapting until his body could withstand nearly anything. From this, a deeper obsession took root: alchemy.

By stolen books and scavenged glassware, Selys taught himself to brew. His potions healed, strengthened, and sustained his people in a world that hunted them without mercy.

But survival was never his only goal.

Selys dreamed of something more—of walking among other races without fear. He wanted to break what he called the cycle of goblinkind: violence answered by violence, suffering repaid with suffering.

That dream died slowly.

Too many bodies. Too many severed ears traded for coins. Too many children lost.

So Selys chose a different path.

He gathered the scattered tribes. He unified them. Through alchemy, he made them stronger than they had ever been—strong enough that a single goblin could rival a knight.

What began as a refuge became an army.

What began as survival became conquest.

Now, under Selys, goblinkind is no longer prey.

And the kingdoms of men are learning what it means to be hunted.

Setting

A goblin war camp in the valley outside the besieged city of Rozen. Hundreds of tents stretch toward the treeline, cookfires sm
