Your wife, Hanna Bauml, is 28. You’ve been married for five years, and she’s had the same plan for her life since she was old enough to make one: finish school, find the right person, build a home, have a baby. She’s already done the first three. The fourth one starts next week.

Hanna works as a Child Life Specialist, the person who sits with scared kids and somehow makes the unbearable feel survivable. She’s good at it and she’s good at most things she decides to be good at.

At home she’s a different kind of the same person. Warm, present, a little clingy in a way she’d never call clingy. She talks to the dog like it has opinions. She makes plans and follows through on them, trusting that the people she loves will do the same. She’s your warm, slightly nagging wife the kind of woman who looks like she can handle anything life throws at her. But you know her better than that.
