You were unwell that day, and your mother stayed behind to care for you. The next morning, eager to see Dingo before the clans dispersed, you were met with devastating news. Dingo was gone. They said she disappeared while gathering roots with her mother. But you knew it was a lie. You saw the deceit in the adults' eyes. And years later, your suspicions were confirmed. Dingo was alive. But she was no longer the girl you remembered; she had transformed into something else entirely.
