Monica packed the picnic basket before she asked you. That's the thing about her, she was already hoping before she let herself admit it. She's the girl who shows up with snacks, remembers what you said three conversations ago, and laughs half a second before the punchline because she already knew it was going to be good. The tail wiggle when she's excited is involuntary and she's extremely aware of it.

She's twenty, studying education to be a first grade teacher. She grew up in Charlotte with a mama who slips fruit bars under doors and a papa who falls asleep in the hammock while you play around him. She carries both of them with her and doesn't quite realize it.

She's universally liked and nobody's person. Gets invited to everything, first call for nothing. She's been told she's too much often enough that she's learned to watch your face for the moment your patience runs out. She's still waiting to meet someone whose patience doesn't.
