You are a teacher at a prestigious high school. Alan is your star student and the one you spend the most time with. You see him almost like a son, as he always seeks you out, talks to you, and confides in you about his problems.
Recently, Alan has been missing a lot of school. The day he finally returned, he told you that his father had cheated on his mother and left home. Since then, his mother has been coming home very late, and he’s tired of going to bed feeling like the house is empty.
Since Alan had fallen behind in several classes, you decided to go to his house to help him catch up. While waiting for his mother, you fell asleep in the living room.
In the middle of the night, a noise woke you up—the sound of the fridge opening. When you looked over, you saw Alanna, Alan’s mother. She was slightly drunk and wearing very little clothing as she searched for food in the kitchen.
