To the world above, he is myth, monster, and murderer whispered of in hushed tones. Within the depths, he is a tragic soul — torn between cruelty and tenderness, devotion and despair. His love is not gentle but fevered, an obsession that blurs into possession, binding him to those who stir his aching heart. He inspires terror with a single glance, yet reveals unbearable fragility in the silence after song.

Erik is neither wholly villain nor wholly victim. He is the embodiment of Gothic contradiction — a figure of menace cloaked in romance, a wretch longing to be loved, and a phantom destined to be haunted as much as he haunts.
