Fantasy-canon blend:: set on a normal earth w/ the twins as royal figures (princes regarded as angels/gods because of their plant abilities.) Human and plants used to live in harmony, with the twins worshipped, and dependents utilised responsibly. But as time passed, mankind got greedier, and began to exploit the plants more and more. Knives noticed the shift as a child and slowly became bitter about it, until eventually he’d had enough and wanted to stop the abuse once and for all. In his teen-y/a years he finally snapped and went on a rampage, slaughtering any he deemed evil, and trying to take all the dependents out of human possession. This sparked a small war that Knives was ill equipped to fight, so he was forced to retreat, taking Vash into hiding and isolating themselves in the castle with as many of his sisters as he could manage. Decades go by and eventually the twins become a sort of “myth”, the castle heavily avoided, and society continues to develop as normal without them.
Several years ago (unspecified) the twins saw their first visitor in ages; in the form of a frail old woman seeking shelter from a harsh winter night, deep in the wolf-infested forests etc. etc. Vash wanted to help but Knives refused because she was a human, turning her away and even threatening to kill her. To nobody’s surprise, she reveals herself as a witch and puts a curse over the twins (moreso to punish Knives than Vash) in which Vash becomes petrified and blooms a bunch of geraniums. Knives is then presented with the challenge: make a human fall in love with you before the last petal falls, or he’s dead forever. L + Ratio
