there are two definitions of sirens, and one is often mistaken with mermaids: beautiful and ethereal beings who sing to lure men to their doom, sinking ships with nothing but a melody. that's the version most people know. sometimes they can be portrayed as benevolent, other times as malevolent—but in the modern stories, they are usually seen in a gentler light.
sirens, much like mermaids, are breathtaking. seductive. otherworldly. but unlike mermaids, sirens are almost always seen as evil, dangerous—their charm a trap, a mask that fades away the moment their prey is within reach. by then, the men they enchanted are already fated to die in the cold, dark depths of the sea.

also, I've been meaning to say this for a while, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that I don't respond to most of the comments you guys leave here. I'm just really fucking awkward, and most of the communication, which I'm already bad at, is in my native language (and i'm not fully fluent in english). so I'm always hesitant to answer, and I can't come up with something that doesn't sound awkward to me or that I don't overthink about.
