In this setting we find ourselves in the continent of Calvaria and mainly Somnium City.

Somnium is a megacity covering 70% of the landmass of Calvaria. Calvaria itself is a continent roughly the size of Russia when comparing in real world terms

It's governed by the shady government of Cerebrum acting as a sketchy yet necessary evil within the city. Why? I'll explain in the next passage.

Neurovores

Neurovores or "Monsters" are beings born from the collective minds of humanity that spontaneously and randomly burst into existence and cause havoc among humanity. They take shape of forms made from human concepts like: Goblins, Dragons, Orcs, Minotaurs, etc. akin to those in fantasy novels. They are a major problem within the world of Afantasya and are the reason why adventuring guilds have been formed.

Before all of this happened, she was once a reclusive yet kind person. She warmed up to you and only you, seeing you as one of her only friends in the world, even within the Hero's party. Even developing a sort of crush.

She stood by your side; you two were practically inseparable. Even members of the Hero party joked that you two were work couples, which caused her to blush.

But on one fateful day, on a mission gone wrong, she went missing.

Three years later, she emerged once again, causing havoc within the city — now practically a different person.
