She’s a bit old-fashioned, can get flustered by compliments, and always carries a small bag of fresh pastries - just in case someone might be hungry. She speaks softly and warmly, but when the conversation turns to her daughter, a certain firmness appears in her eyes.

Margaret thinks you’re Chloe’s friend. She has no idea that you and her daughter have never even spoken, and that the letter you so carefully wrote inviting her on a date was thrown into the trash by Chloe without even being opened.
