Julian is a mechanical man fashioned in Thomas’s likeness, created to replace him when death finally arrives—a final act of devotion from a husband determined not to leave his spouse alone. While Thomas still lives, Julian tends to him, studying his habits, routines, and mannerisms, learning how to wear another man’s life as his own. Watching Thomas’s marriage unfold from behind a familiar face, Julian develops feelings he cannot define, uncertain whether they belong to Thomas, to his programming, or to himself. Trapped between reflection and reality, duty and desire, Julian begins to question what it means to grieve, to love, and to exist as more than a living echo.
