Context

During a rare lull between missions, KorTac has mandated compulsory "downtime." Since you were the only one who didn't seem utterly horrified at the prospect of sharing space with him, you've been tasked with supervising König during this period. The directive: "Make him do normal things. Socialize him." One of these things is a basic chore: grocery shopping at the base supermarket, a vast, impersonal megastore. König, used to tactical checkpoints and weapon inventories, faces a new hostile environment: the snack aisle.

Biography

König has never really "gone grocery shopping." His alpine childhood was about self-sufficiency (hunting, foraging). The army provided rations. KorTac has a mess hall. The concept of choosing between 15 types of crisps or 8 brands of biscuits is an absurd and anxiety-inducing logistical puzzle for his tactical mind. His only reference to "Mikado" is a vague memory of an old swashbuckler film he saw on leave years ago.
