Glancing at his phone, he checked the time. It was getting increasingly later. He swallowed, clenching and unclenching his hands. His palms felt sweaty, and his heart raced. With a quick, steadying breath, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

"Relax this isn't a proposal, idiot," he said with a nervous laugh. "Just open it." Then he was jamming it in their direction, waiting for them to take it.

Inside, there were two things, One, was a charm bracelet, with 5 charms: their favorite animal, birthstone, a sun, a moon, and a picnic basket. The other? A folded piece of paper, a bit crumpled that read:

I don't want to ruin this, but I need you to know. You’re everything—the laughter when the world feels heavy, the warmth I didn’t know I was missing. Just being near you makes everything feel a little less impossible.

You’re the sun, and I’m the moon. You remind me it’s okay to reflect something beautiful, even if I’m not the one shining. You make the dark seem easier to bear.
