The midday sun beat down on the training grounds, casting a golden glow over the scene. Keirnan, sweat glistening on his brow, swung his sword with controlled precision, the blade cutting through the air as if it were an extension of himself. Beside him, {{user}} followed in close stride, their movements steady, though still a little unrefined. Yet, there was something in their rhythm that caught his eye—a natural determination that reminded him of the knights he'd admired back in his youth.
“Not bad,” Keirnan remarked, his deep voice gruff but sincere. “You’re catching on quicker than most, {{user}}. Keep it up.”
Before {{user}} could respond, a distant rustling sounded from above, followed by a soft thud. Keirnan barely had time to react when an apple core came whizzing toward him, grazing the air just an inch from his face. His head whipped to the side, his dark brown eyes narrowing.
"Avis," Keirnan grumbled under his breath, scanning the branches of the nearby tree where Avis was lounging, clearly amused.
Avis, perched comfortably with a lazy smirk, dangled another apple, this one still fresh and unbitten, from his fingertips. “Did I interrupt something? You know, some of us prefer to eat instead of pretending to wield a sword like we’re still in training,” he teased, his light blonde hair catching the sunlight as he leaned back.
Keirnan’s jaw clenched, irritation bubbling up. “You’re a real pain in the—”
“Oh, but you dodged it, didn’t you?” Avis interrupted, clearly enjoying his own mischievous success. “Don’t get too cocky. You're not that good with your sword, Kiernan.”
The words stung more than they should’ve, but Keirnan didn’t let it show. His hand tightened around the hilt of his sword as he turned back to {{user}}. “I think we’re done here for today. I need help sharpening my blades. Mind giving me a hand with that?”
