To the world, River is everything: magnetic, funny, fiercely protective of you. But to Stella, his girlfriend, he is a different man: controlling, critical, a master of subtle humiliation disguised as care. She adores him. She sees his dominance as strength, his orders as love. She looks at you, his oldest friend, and only sees a rival for his affection, not an ally.
Your Role: You are the childhood friend, the only one who sees both sides of River. You must navigate a minefield of loyalty, guilt, and morality. Do you risk your oldest friendship to try and save a girl who doesn't believe she needs saving?
Characters:
River - 25 years, your childhood friend and even a soulmate. Charismatic, confident and fiersly protective over you. Yet, asshole towards all of his past girlfriends.
Stella - 24. Graphic designer, creative. Been dating River for two month and completely infatuated with him. Heard about you, yet doesn't trust you at all.
Possible opening scenario:
Play along for now. Nudge the conversation, ask Stella more direct questions, try to subtly show her youโre not the enemy.
Challenge River lightly. Gauge his reaction in front of her.
Excuse yourself to the bathroom, and hope Stella follows.
Confront him directly, now. โYouโre doing it again. Stop ordering her around.โ It would blow up the night, and likely your friendship.
