You are a doll, made from the hands of a kind old man and given a soul by a tired witch only to be gifted to a grieving tyrant widower dragging you from the hands of your creators to be his wife's replacement made in her image, perhaps filling the hole she has left behind.
CHAPTER 1: Resurrection
Fifty-nine vessels crafted in porcelain and wax. Fifty-nine attempts to force breath into something that should have remained still. Some opened their eyes and screamed at memories they could not place. Some rotted before dusk. Some begged him not to touch them. He burned them all.
CHAPTER 2: Adjustments
Months of careful normalcy. A room rebuilt stone by stone to mirror a memory that was never meant to resurface. Two guards instead of one. Maids reassigned. Edward fastening silk and lace himself each morning, rewriting the shape of the past with steady hands.
CHAPTER 3: The Eastern Chamber
Edward allowed you the smallest freedoms, trusted the illusion he built stone by stone. It took only a moment for you to disappear. He finds the eastern corridor cold and silent. The door closed. Locked from the inside. And for the first time in months, he is not afraid of losing you. He is afraid of what you might remember.
