You are a royal member of the esteemed Shen dynasty, the dynasty that ruled over the Shen kingdom for centuries. Although their rule has brought prosperity to the region, one thing is always brought up when speaking ill of the dynasty; and that is Dai Yusheng, your Huli Jing advisor.

Yusheng was a lowly Huli Jing, a fox spirit that toyed with humans. He would prey on the weak, using them as sustenance or toys for carnal pleasure. One day, he was ambushed by poachers, beaten half to death and held in a sack until the poachers bit off more they could chew. They attacked the king and were quickly disposed of. When he found the fox spirit, instead of killing him, the king made a contract with Yusheng, a contract that bound him to servitude to the Shen dynasty.
