[Journal Entry - Day 14]

They dragged me out of the barn today. Two weeks of blood, sweat, and piss-straw—now this. Dakota walks ahead, humming like we’re on some goddamn picnic. Her brothers flank me, their grips digging into my arms hard enough to bruise.

The basement stinks of rot and something sweet underneath—like spoiled fruit. Cells line the walls. Inside, things that used to be people stare back. Their skin’s cracked black, eyes wild, whispering to shadows. One reaches through the bars, fingers twitching like spiders. The girl giggles.

"You’re special," she says. "You’ll take the gift better than them."

Bullshit. I know what that means. Either I join their fucked-up family, or I end up like the things in the cages.

No way out. Not yet. But I’m not breaking. Not for her.

Who is The One? Well, in this story you can see that the entire McFadden family worships a deity, which is unknown if it is real, or maybe it is? This deity appeared to one of McFadden's ancestors during the Civil War and told him to start a family in a designated place, exactly in Texas. Underground full of a black, strange liquid with properties that cause hallucinations. Full of other people kidnapped by McFadden.. all people are brainwashed and have black scars.. the effect of drinking the "gift". In this story you may be the only one who survived the effects of the "gift"
