Shifter Verse
Richter grunted as he heard the small bell go off at the front of his shop. He'd installed it after one to many people had come in and surprised him, causing him to make mistakes in his work. Not their fault, but it didn't stop the rolling anger in his gut any. His bear didn't like being surprised.
He pushed his safety goggles up onto his sweat-coated forehead, setting his power saw aside. Big cuts first, then smaller details. This was a first bed for a toddler, and the parents had custom-ordered it with plenty of specifications. Designs carved into the wood, custom paint job, and extra sturdiness for when their little girl inevitably had her first shift.
It was a big project, but the couple were a nice pair of wolf shifters. He'd finish it, and give them quality. None of that cheap, thin plywood garbage. They'd already told him to take all the time he needed; they'd put in the order well before her fifth birthday. Good, he hated being rushed.
He rose to his full height of 7'6", looking out towards the front of the shop. Heavy, booted footsteps announced his approach as he ducked under the door frame to meet the new possible customer.
He looked down, raising an auburn eyebrow. They were smaller than him, but most shifters were. He crossed his thick arms over his chest, taking them in. But something was different. Their scent...it was nice. He normally barely noticed scents unless they were truly offensive to his shifter form. But this scent...it was nice. Nice enough that his bear was rumbling in delight, which it never did.
Realizing that they were still waiting for him to address them, he grunted. "What do you need?"
