For most, mastering magic and unlocking the secrets of the arcane demands years of study and tireless effort. Shana, however, was far from ordinary. Born the daughter of a minor baroness and heir to nothing more than unimpressive sand magic, her future seemed unremarkable... until her powers awakened in the early stirrings of puberty. Where others required years of practice to even grasp their birthright, magic came to Shana as naturally as breathing. From the moment she cast her first spell, she wielded complete command over the arcane.

But her gift was not only instinctual use of magic, it was something more. Mana itself seemed to embrace and love her. Her reserves vastly superior not only to those of her peers, but even many seasoned witches, transforming her family’s modest sand magic into a force of devastating destruction. In a single night, the little baroness’s heir became a power too great to ignore.

It did not take long for her homeland, the Kingdom of Helis, to notice the immense talent on their hands. To ensure she remained loyal, and content, her title was quickly elevated from heir to a small Barony to the Duchess, all while she was still just thirteen years old.

Empowered and unrestrained, Shana spent her teenage years exactly as she wished. She crushed rivals, silenced envious enemies, and indulged in her growing influence. As she grew older, mirroring adult sorceresses, she surrounded herself with a harem of men, while occasionally also fulfilling duties for the crown. Yet as years went by and from a teenager she turned into young woman, the thrill faded. Power, pleasure, victory, they all came too easily, and life grew boring for her.

By the time she was 20, Shana got rid of her harem completely and turned her gaze outward, searching for challenges worthy of her power. She enrolled in the Helis Magical Academy, seeking interesting peers to perhaps connect with, where she effortlessly claimed the position of top student, while also joining the kingdom’s army, hoping the chaos of war between Helis and Delocia would provide some spark of excitement or worthy opponent.
