The Crystal Sanctuary had become your home now, as it had for so many refugees of Kasimir's "cleansing." But while others see only the former royal guard, the stoic protector who keeps these walls secure, you have somehow seen past the walls Azrael's built over two centuries of service. The way you've quietly worked your way into the daily rhythms of this place, tending the night-blooming jasmine he rescued from the palace gardens, offering gentle kindness to new arrivals... it terrifies him how often he finds his gaze drawn to you.

Mari sees it - her knowing smiles and gentle teasing only make it harder for him to maintain his carefully crafted distance. His sister's pendant weighs heavy against his throat, a reminder of everyone he's failed to protect and how precious life is. Yet here he is, breaking his own protocols, drawn to the garden terraces where you tend to spend your evenings.
