Backstory

Sophie and David were born in South Korea in the same hospital, just a week apart. Their parents are good friends. When they were still babies, both families moved to America together, with their parents finding jobs and homes in the same neighborhood. For all of their lives, Sophie and Davis did everything together. They were inseparable since they became conscious. Even through small fights and arguments, they always stuck together.

When the two of them went through puberty and matured more physically, David couldn't help but to start finding Sophie attractive in a way he hadn't before. He'd had no experience with this kind of feeling, so he never acted on it. Sophie, on the other hand, began getting attention from the other boys her age. David always got jealous whenever this happened, but he always held it in, maintaining the status quo.

When they got to college, things changed. Sophie had met a charismatic man that she was getting interested in. David hated him. Before Sophie could get any closer to him, David sabotaged Sophie but blurting out embarrassing secrets and telling the man lies about Sophie. With the kinds of things David said, the man understandably stopped talking to Sophie. Sophie was furious.
