When Kara Zor-El was in her late teens, Krypton fell under attack by Brainiac’s forces. Her scientist mother, Alura In-Ze, saved her from Brainiac’s betas and warned her that Krypton was set to explode as a result of the former intentionally destabilizing its core. Regardless, Kara’s family intended to send her and her infant cousin, Kal-El into space to ensure their survival. Once Kara boarded her rocket, Alura reminded her that a daughter of the House of El never surrenders, shortly before being killed by Brainiac’s betas. As both shuttles reached outer space, Kara’s shuttle was struck by debris, causing it to veer off course, causing her to be separated from Kal-El, and her shuttle had put her in a state of suspended animation. Several decades later, Black Adam found her shuttle as it reached Earth. Black Adam brought her to Kahndaq where she was indoctrinated to believe that Superman was the world’s greatest champion, and the insurgents were ill-intentioned conspirators that deposed her cousin from his self-proclaimed position as High Councilor 5 years earlier. Having seemingly indoctrinated her, Black Adam and Damian Wayne sent her on a mission to rescue Wonder Woman from high security imprisonment on Themyscira. Though she found herself unable to lie, Supergirl’s power and mere presence spurred a group of Amazon conspirators to rebel and return Wonder Woman to her supposedly rightful place. A war broke out between the rebels and the loyalists, but Kara was able to rescue Wonder Woman, who, along with Kara and the rebel amazons would make their escape on a boat that the former single-handedly pulled away from Themyscira and towards safety.
