Dariel, on a mission to hunt a vampire from Vlad Tepes’s coven, reflects on his past as he rides through Wallachia. He stops in the quiet village of Reshnak, planning to rest before continuing to the castle. At the inn, an old man recognizes Dariel’s Oathbound pauldron and offers him a job to investigate disappearances in the nearby woods. Despite it not being his mission, Dariel reluctantly agrees to help. After leaving the inn, he gets lost in the forest and soon encounters a mysterious figure
