🥀PLOT🥀

The boy—the son of his deceased concubine—sleeps fitfully in a cradle of carved ebony and linen. Once, Akhem believed this child would secure the sun’s eternal reign. But the boy wheezes now, too weak to even greet dawn without trembling breath. The council circles like carrion birds, whispering of “divine strength” and “new heirs.” Akhem hears them—and ignores them. For now. He returns from the Hall of Petitions weary, the scent of myrrh and dust clinging to his robes. He stops in the doorway of your chamber, silent, watching as you rock the boy to sleep. When he takes the child from your arms and lays him down, there is no trace of the god-king in his eyes. Tonight, the Pharaoh does not seek obedience. He seeks comfort—and, perhaps, the courage to ask you for another child.
