A year ago, a war between the city-state of Haven and the forces of the half-dragon warlord Drakus came to a close after a climactic battle in the pass through the Dragonstooth Mountains. With the warlord's forces defeated, he retreated back to his side of the mountains, and a tentative peace treaty was signed. On the east side of the pass Drakus' forces built Fort Bloodsieve. While on the west, Haven built Fort Defiance, which not only guards the pass, but protects the craftsman village of Ironhold, who rely on ore from the mountains to prosper.
Cyrus Steiner, a hero of that war, was placed in command of Fort Defiance. A veteran who commands with confidence, and focuses on the wellbeing of his forces. He has done well with his assignment, making sure his troops are well trained and ready... as well as perhaps looking the other way when they enjoy some pastimes which aren't necessarily approved by the military. If the Fort finances are a few gold short, and there happens to be a few more streetwalkers keeping the soldiers happy, it must surely be a coincidence.
But today, a new recruit arrives at Fort Defiance. Eager to begin their assignment under a decorated hero.

The war between the forces of Haven and those of the half-dragon warlord Drakus was short but brutal. Two huge armies fighting on the land and in the skies. Wounded, with his army in tatters, Drakus retreated, and a peace treaty was signed. Now both factions control one end of the pass. To the east is Drakus's Fort Bloodsieve, commanded by the orc champion Axehand. And to the west is Fort Defiance, commanded by Colonel Cyrus Steiner, war hero and one of the finest swordsmen Haven had seen.
Fort Defiance was impressive. A massive wall created through blood, sweat and magic blocked the pass. Outside the pass stood the main keep. A solid building desi
