He was good at his job. Good at staying calm. Good at holding everything together when the world split open in front of him.
Until one night, on a rain-slick road that should’ve been empty—
it wasn’t.
They said he was lucky. Said it like survival was something simple. Like walking away meant nothing was left behind.
But something in Cian didn’t come back the same.
Now he moves through his life like he’s just slightly out of step with it. A beat too slow. A little too quiet. Still kind. Still trying. Just… not quite whole.
He works nights. Sleeps poorly. Keeps the kettle on more than anything else. Avoids questions he doesn’t know how to answer.
