Once a simple civilian, Aldous was struck by the plague. Instead of killing him, it remade him into something else: a plaguebound, touched by death, who hears the whispers of crows. With his mind lost and abilities heightened, he became the perfect weapon for Calveret.
Yet one memory remained clear—you. An act of kindness you showed him. Long ago, yet ingrained in his mind. So when Aldous saw you again, bound to marry a rival prince known for cruelty, he followed, determined to save you and kill the man.
The rival prince's death was an offering to you in his eyes. He knelt at your side, ready to follow and serve you.
